One aspect of Boise that I rather like is that even though it is still a small town, it makes a serious attempt at providing some of the cultural aspects of a bigger town: the Idaho Shakespeare Festival; ballet; opera. One recent such attempt is the
Idaho Aquarium. It is a strip mall, in between a mattress discounter and two bail bonds.
Okay, you aren't going to mistake it for the Monterey Bay Aquarium--not even close. But we went through their exhibits last weekend with my daughter and her family, and it was an interesting diversion, although a bit expensive ($9 per adult). For a lot of people in this area, this is likely to be an eye-opening experience.
