GOPe is pushing this bill; conservatives are unhappy. This
summary of it tells me why. GOPe is trying to amend Obamacare on the edges. Concerning selling insurance across state lines? No change. The big insurers are terrified competition might lower their profits.
What profits?
ReplyDeleteI looked up United Healthcare's financials today referencing the same thing, elsewhere.
Their net margin, last quarter?
3.5%.
That's ... pretty much in line with margins in every competitive industry, ain't it?
I mean, yeah, they make money ... but not a lot of "extra profit" from regulatory capture etc. to be clawed back.
Trump is 100% for this bill - it cannot be blamed on the "old" Republicans. At least, not exclusively.
